The museum is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition Sword by author Aleksandar Stanković, a teacher, historian, and theoretician of classical, sports, and stage fencing. The exhibition, which will be open to all lovers and enthusiasts of this most elegant martial art, will be held on Tuesday, June 18 at 8:00 PM. The exhibition includes a rich collection of over 50 swords throughout the centuries, from antiquity through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance to the modern era. The displayed items, mostly replicas, are enriched with authentic pieces of yataghans and sabers from the Weapons and Warrior Equipment Collection of the Museum, representing the culture of the sword of Serbia and the Balkans.
During the exhibition, there will be organized expert guided tours, workshops, and interactive lectures on the topic of sword theory and the history of fencing in Serbia and Belgrade from the Middle Ages to the mid-20th century. We especially announce a small award competition Sword in Stone for our youngest visitors.
With a welcome speech from the director of the Ethnographic Museum, Marko Krstić, the exhibition will be opened by the author Aleksandar Stanković and the curator of the Weapons and Warrior Equipment Collection of the Ethnographic Museum, Ivan Maksimović.
The exhibition will be open to visitors until October. The ticket price is 400 dinars.
