Description

There are different legends about Peer Gynt. First, we come across this name in a Norwegian fairy tale, where Peer Gynt is a lonely hunter who faces trolls. Later on, Henrik Ibsen writes about Peer in a different way, a renowned Norwegian playwright, for whose play Edvard Grieg composed the music. Ibsen writes in his drama about what it means to be a man with responsibilities, and what it means to be a "troll" and run away from them, and that main theme has remained present in our somewhat more cheerful version of this story. But, where do trolls come from, anyway? It's easiest to explain them like this: just as in our folklore we have Baba Roga, which parents use to scare children - in Norway there are trolls.
