Description
The museum is pleased to announce the guest exhibition Sword by Alexander Stanković, a teacher, historian and theorist of classical, sports and stage sword fighting. The exhibition will be open to all enthusiasts and fans of this most elegant martial art on Tuesday, June 18th at 8:00 pm. The exhibition includes a rich collection of over 50 swords through the ages, from antiquity through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, to the modern era. The displayed items, mostly replicas, are enriched with authentic pieces of yataghans and sabers from the Weapons and Warrior Equipment Collection of the Museum representing the sword culture of Serbia and the Balkans.
During the exhibition, there will be guided tours, workshops, and interactive lectures on the theory of swords and the history of sword fighting in Serbia and Belgrade from the Middle Ages to the mid 20th century. We especially announce a small prize competition Sword in Stone for our youngest visitors.
With a welcoming speech from the director of the Ethnographic Museum, Marko Krstić, the exhibition will be opened by the author Alexander Stanković and the curator of the Weapons and Warrior Equipment Collection of the Ethnographic Museum, Ivan Maksimović.
The exhibition will be open to visitors until October. The entrance fee is 400 dinars.
