In Serbia, the white stork census has begun. The Serbian Bird Protection and Study Society has announced the stork census: the first round of counting will take place from April 22 to May 31, and the second round will be from June 17 to July 15.

Everyone interested can participate in the census. To do this, you need to register by email at [email protected] or by phone at 021/30-44-925. Registration is also available on the website, which includes instructions.

The white stork is easily identifiable and is difficult to confuse with other species. After flying almost 12,000 km, the storks almost always return to the same nest, which they build and repair throughout the breeding season.

The white stork census is one of the oldest forms of bird monitoring in Europe. It is conducted every ten years, and this year marks the eighth cycle.
