Duo Nytt Land

Nordic folk pagan duo Nytt Land is premiering in Belgrade, and the date to mark is September 24. On that occasion, they will promote their seventh album 'Torem,' which saw the light of day in October last year. Fans of bands such as Heilung, Wardruna, Danheim, and SKÁLD must not miss this concert! Early bird tickets priced at 1800 dinars can be purchased through Gigstix, and afterward, the presale price will be 2200 dinars. If any remain on the day, they will cost 2500 dinars.

Nytt Land was formed in 2013 in the city of Kalachinsk (Omsk Oblast), located over 4500 kilometers away from Belgrade, and the whole story began with the married couple Natalia and Anatoly Pakhalenko. Recognized for the dark neo-pagan ambiance they create, they are also distinguished by throat singing, playing handmade traditional instruments such as kantele and talharpa, which is certainly an additional lure why it's worth attending this unusual ceremony. The band says they are inspired by the sounds of the Siberian landscape and use recorded sounds of ravens and other forest sounds, so it's no wonder why some describe their music as a 'hallucinogenic walk through the tundra.' Textually tied to Norse mythology, particularly to the collection of 38 poems 'Elder (Poetic) Edda' in Old Norse (North Germanic language spoken by the inhabitants of the Scandinavian Peninsula and their neighbors in the Viking Age, until around 1300). Their latest album 'Torem' is sung in Khanty (area of western Siberia by the Ob River) and Old Icelandic, and the name itself means 'Great Sky' and holds great significance for the spirituality of the people from those regions. A very intriguing experience awaits us on September 24 at Zappa Barki; it would be a shame to miss it. Also, in the organization of Hengstajm, the same band will perform the next day at Močvara in Zagreb.
