Sword Through the Centuries at the Ethnographic Museum

The museum is pleased to announce the guest exhibition 'Sword' by author Aleksandar Stanković, a teacher, historian, and theorist of classical, sports, and stage fencing, which will be opened on Tuesday, June 18th at 8:00 PM for all lovers and enthusiasts of this most elegant martial art. The exhibition includes a rich collection of over 50 swords through the centuries, from antiquity through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance to the modern era. The exhibited items, mostly replicas, are enriched with authentic pieces of yataghans and sabers from the collection of Weapons and Warriors Equipment of the Museum representing the sword culture of Serbia and the Balkans. Professional guided tours, workshops, and interactive lectures on the theory of swords and the history of fencing in Serbia and Belgrade from the Middle Ages to the mid-20th century will be organized during the exhibition. We especially announce a small prize competition 'Sword in the Stone' for our youngest visitors. The exhibition will be open to visitors until October. The ticket price is 400 dinars.
