Description
One of the most famous Yugoslav rock singers and musicians, Dado Topić, will perform at SKCNS on September 27th at 8:00 PM.
Adolf Dado Topić was born in 1949 in Novo Gradiska, Croatia, and during his decades-long career, he excelled as a musician, composer, lyricist, arranger, guitarist, and rock singer. He started with music in high school as a member of the band Djavolji eliksiri, playing bass and singing, before joining the Osijek group Dynamite where he played rhythm guitar and sang, gaining a reputation as an excellent soul and blues music vocalist.
In late 1969, he became a member of the Korni group, where he started composing, creating his first songs "Remember", "Woman Is Garlic, and Man a Ship", and "The First Light in House Number 4", sharing authorship with Kornelije Kovac. Dado Topić left the Korni group in 1971 and in Zagreb, with the help of manager Vladimir Mihaljek, founded the band Time, officially ending its work at the end of 1977.
Since then, Dado Topić has continued with a solo career. He achieved great success with the band Dragonfly and the song 'I Believe in Love' which won the Croatian competition for the Eurovision Song Contest - Dora 2007. With this band, he also performed as the opening act at Brian Adams' concert in Croatia.
In 2006, he received the Fender Mega Music award for the greatest influence on rock singing in the last 40 years.
