Sword through the Centuries at the Ethnographic Museum

The museum is pleased to announce the temporary exhibition 'Sword,' by author Aleksandar Stanković, a teacher, historian, and theorist of classical, sports, and stage fencing, which will be open to all lovers and enthusiasts of this most elegant martial art, on Tuesday, June 18 at 8:00 p.m.
The exhibition includes a rich collection of over 50 swords through the centuries, from antiquity through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, to the modern era, and the exhibited items, mostly replicas, are enriched with authentic pieces of yataghans and sabers from the Weapons and Warrior Equipment Collection of the Museum, representing the sword culture of Serbia and the Balkans.

During the exhibition, guided tours, workshops, and interactive lectures on the theory of the sword and the history of fencing in Serbia and Belgrade from the Middle Ages to the mid-20th century will be organized, and we especially announce a small prize competition 'Sword in Stone' for our youngest visitors.

With a welcoming speech by the director of the Ethnographic Museum, Marko Krstic, the exhibition will be opened by the author Aleksandar Stanković and the curator of the Weapons and Warrior Equipment Collection of the Ethnographic Museum, Ivan Maximović.

The exhibition will be open to visitors until October. The ticket price is 400 dinars.
