George Bernard Shaw (26 June 1856 – 2 November 1950) was an Irish playwright and novelist, essayist, journalist, literary, theatre and music critic. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1925 and an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1939, for the film 'My Fair Lady,' based on his play 'Pygmalion'. The play 'Pygmalion' is a modern interpretation of the ancient myth of Pygmalion and Galatea.
