Berlin-based band Curses, known for their unique blend of romantic post-punk and electronic body music (E.B.M.), will perform their energetic concert at Zappa Baza on February 19, 2025, as part of a European tour promoting their new album Another Heaven. The album, released on October 25th for the renowned record label Italians Do It Better, features collaborations with Marie Davidson and Skelesys, continuing to define the band's distinctive sound, a fusion of dark, romantic new wave music and melancholic post-punk. Drawing inspiration from the melancholy of the 1980s and the DIY energy of early electronic body music, Curses combines cinematic textures with 'spiritual' guitars, distinctive vocals, and pulsating bass lines. Performing live as a duo—Luca Veneziana on guitar and vocals and Dame Bonnet on bass—they create a visceral experience of sound and movement, infused with album material and spontaneous improvisations influenced by krautrock. Their latest album Another Heaven follows a series of acclaimed releases, including singles like 'H2SG,' 'Caviar,' 'Elegant Death,' and the album's titular track. Renowned for their artistic versatility, Curses have made their mark through music campaigns for Saint Laurent, Dior, Calvin Klein, as well as releases for labels like Permanent Vacation, Bordello A Parigi, and Oráculo Records. Curses has had a global impact through performances at prestigious festivals and in iconic clubs worldwide, including Berghain (Berlin), Nuits Sonores (Lyon), and Ombra Festival (Barcelona). They have shared the stage with pioneers such as Nitzer Ebb, Alessandro Cortini, and Charlotte Adigéry, solidifying their place in the contemporary new wave and E.B.M. scene.
