Description
The museum is pleased to announce the guest exhibition 'Sword' by Alexander Stanković, a teacher, historian, and theorist of classical, sports, and stage fencing. The exhibition, which will be open to all enthusiasts and lovers of this most elegant martial art, will take place on Tuesday, June 18 at 8:00 PM. The exhibition includes a rich collection of over 50 swords through the ages, from antiquity through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance to the modern era. The exhibited items, mostly replicas, are enriched with authentic pieces of yataghans and sabers from the collection of the Weapons and Warrior Equipment Museum, representing the culture of swords in Serbia and the Balkans.
During the exhibition, expert guided tours, workshops, and interactive lectures on the theory of the sword and the history of fencing in Serbia and Belgrade from the Middle Ages to the mid-20th century will be organized. We especially announce a small prize competition 'Sword in Stone' for our youngest visitors.
With a welcome speech from the director of the Ethnographic Museum, Marko Krstić, the exhibition will be opened by author Alexander Stanković and the curator of the Weapons and Warrior Equipment collection of the Ethnographic Museum, Ivan Maximović.
The exhibition will be open to visitors until October. The ticket price is 400 Serbian dinars.
