Sword Exhibition Through the Ages at the Ethnographic Museum
Description
The museum is pleased to announce the guest exhibition "Sword" by author Aleksandar Stanković, a teacher, historian, and theorist of classical, sports, and stage fencing. The exhibition, featuring a rich collection of over 50 swords through the centuries, from antiquity through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance to the modern era, will be open to all enthusiasts and aficionados of this most elegant martial art on Tuesday, June 18 at 8 p.m.
The exhibition includes a diverse collection of swords, mostly replicas, enriched with authentic pieces of yataghans and sabers from the Museum's Weapons and Warrior Equipment collection, representing the sword culture of Serbia and the Balkans.
Throughout the exhibition, there will be guided tours, workshops, and interactive lectures on the theory of the sword and the history of fencing in Serbia and Belgrade from the Middle Ages to the mid-20th century. We also announce a small prize competition, Sword in the Stone, for our youngest visitors.
With a welcome speech from the director of the Ethnographic Museum, Marko Krstić, the exhibition will be opened by author Aleksandar Stanković and the curator of the Weapons and Warrior Equipment collection of the Ethnographic Museum, Ivan Maksimović.
The exhibition will be open to visitors until October. The ticket price is 400 dinars.
