Exhibition “Confessions of Yugoslav Modernism”

Description

Works on paper from the Collection of the Gallery of the House of the Serbian Army comprise around 1,500 pieces of fine and applied arts and can be divided into four sections: Collection of paintings, Collection of works on paper, Collection of sculpture, and Collection of applied arts. Works on paper, after paintings, are the most numerous segment of the fund. The collection was formed based on artists' participation in engaged exhibitions organized by the Gallery of the House of Yugoslav National Army, solo exhibitions, participation in art colonies, and completion of military service. Works were created over a period of a century, so it can be said that the Collection covers almost the entire XX century. They vary in themes, from those with the theme of still life, portraits, exteriors, interiors without ideological backgrounds, to highly engaged works on the theme of People's Liberation Struggle and war. The exhibition features over 40 pieces constituting works on paper in drawing, watercolor, pastel, gouache, tempera techniques, and works executed in a combined technique. Among the protagonists of the exhibition are the most significant artists of the XX century in the Yugoslav space—Ljubomir Ljuba Ivanović, Sava Šumanović, Stojan Ćelić, Predrag Peđa Milosavljević, Mladen Srbinović, Milo Milunović, Gabrijel Stupica, Nikola Martinoski, Zlatko Prica, and others. Venue: Gallery of Fine Arts Gift Collection Rajko Mamuzić. You can find the program on the organizer's website: www.rmamuzic.rs
