Yugoslav Drama Theatre

Sophocles, one of the three classics of Greek tragedy (alongside Aeschylus and Euripides), wrote over 130 works, of which only a few have been preserved: Ajax, Antigone, Oedipus the King, Electra, Trachinian Women, Philoctetes Oedipus at Colonus. Of all these works, in ancient times, the most famous was the tragedy Oedipus the King, which Aristotle in his work 'Poetics' states as a perfect model of tragedy. Slovenian director Vito Taufer graduated in directing from the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana in 1985. Since then, he has directed over 100 plays, several operas, and one feature film. He has collaborated with numerous theatres across the former Yugoslavia and has received a large number of the most prestigious theater awards and recognitions, including several Borštnik Awards, several Lovro Kuhar Awards of the Sarajevo MESS, Sterija's Awards, Marul Awards of the Maruli Days, Prešeren Awards... In 1996, Taufer received the Special Bitef Award for the play Silence Silence Silence produced by the Slovenian Youth Theatre from Ljubljana.
