Exhibition of Small Graphics First 75

Graphic Collective

❗On Monday, December 23rd at 7 pm, the exhibition of Small Graphics First 75 opens at the Gallery of the Graphic Collective, where the Small Seal award for the best achievement in the field of small format graphics is presented. In the year of its jubilee, the 75th birthday, this Collective continues part of its program under the theme Tradition for the Future. The founders of the Graphic Collective, in the 1950s, used to organize sales exhibitions of graphics during the New Year holidays, thereby softening the dominance of stereotypical kitschy versions of cards by housewives and sweepers on the market. The ideas of the artists gathered around the Graphic Collective (and their continuity) to bring original artistic work into every home and to animate, delight, educate, and cultivate a new audience as a suitable gift, have been followed by new editions of Small Graphics exhibitions for eight decades. Over time, this chamber exhibition has become, alongside the May exhibition, a significant point for the presentation of the real reach of contemporary graphic production and an opportunity for its critical evaluation. The title of the exhibition text: “For your home and those you love (and) in the new millennium. Because graphics are both the school of art/life and a fluid space of spirit hidden from the hustle and bustle of busy time.”, touches upon the identity and conceptual framework of this work.

The atmosphere of the new edition of the Small Graphics exhibition also reflects a high concentration of manuscripts from various poetic backgrounds; in addition to the bards of our contemporary scene (born in 1949) who maintain the tension of the exhibition, new young authorial phenomena (born in the new millennium) certainly renew its creative vitality. The catalog includes sentences from the youngest participants, and one of the notes: “the artist's (small) world is much larger than the edges of that paper”, attests to the creative essence of the idea.
