Personality disorders: psychopathy, borderline personality disorder and new approaches in psychiatry

The words "psychopath", "narcissist", "borderline personality" have long left psychiatrists' offices — today they're easily thrown around on social media and in conversations about complicated relationships. But what really lies behind these terms?

In this lecture we'll figure out where popular labels end and real psychiatry begins.

• 🤩 what are personality disorders and how do they develop?
• 🤩 why does the behavior of such people seem "difficult" or incomprehensible?
• 🤩 how do psychopathy and borderline personality disorder (BPD) manifest?
• 🤩 and most importantly — how are they diagnosed and treated today?

We will separately talk about the modern approach to diagnosis in the new International Classification of Diseases — ICD-11, which is changing the way we look at personality disorders.

• The lecture will be given by psychiatrists from the Doctorus clinic:
  • Tatyana Yarushina — adult and child psychiatrist, specialist in mood disorders, personality disorders and acute mental conditions
  • Semyon Lazovsky — adult psychiatrist, specialist in borderline psychiatry and neurodivergence

Our goal is to explore the topic without myths and stigma, explain it in plain language, and show how modern psychiatry understands and treats personality disorders.
