The prestigious Palić European Film Festival will be held from July 18 to 22 at beautiful locations in Palić and Subotica. The German film "Ah, That Emptiness, That Terrible Emptiness" directed by Simon Verhoeven opens this year’s program. The gala screening is scheduled for July 18 at the iconic Palić Summer Stage.

"Ah, That Emptiness, That Terrible Emptiness" (Ach, diese Lücke, diese entsetzliche Lücke, 2026) by Simon Verhoeven is a German tragicomedy and coming-of-age film based on the autobiographical bestseller by Joachim Meyerhoff.

It follows twenty-year-old Joachim, who enrolls in a prestigious acting school in Munich and moves in with his eccentric grandparents, as he tries to find his own identity between art, family, and life’s challenges.
