"Ah, That Emptiness, That Terrible Emptiness" opens the 33rd Palić European Film Festival

Prestigious Palić European Film Festival will be held from 18 to 22 July at beautiful locations in Palić and Subotica. The German film "Ah, That Emptiness, That Terrible Emptiness" directed by Simon Verhoeven opens this year’s program. The gala screening is scheduled for 18 July at the iconic Palić Summer Stage.

"Ah, That Emptiness, That Terrible Emptiness" (Ach, diese Lücke, diese entsetzliche Lücke, 2026) by Simon Verhoeven is a German tragicomedy and coming-of-age film based on the autobiographical bestseller by Joachim Meyerhoff.

It follows twenty-year-old Joachim, who enrolls in a prestigious acting school in Munich and moves in with his eccentric grandparents, trying to find his own identity between art, family and life’s challenges.
