The exhibition “Underground Galaxy” presents photographs and specimens from the private collection of minerals and crystals belonging to collector Irine Tomić.

In addition to the displayed specimens, the collector presents macrophotographs of carefully selected samples, revealing their complex structures, textures, and visual details that often remain invisible to the naked eye. Through magnified depictions of surfaces and structures, the minerals transform into intricate visual landscapes that evoke cosmic scenes: galaxies, constellations, and unknown worlds. Through the camera lens, each specimen gains an additional layer of meaning and becomes part of a broader visual narrative, similar to a museum installation. In this way, the collection does not end with the physical possession of objects but expands into the space of the image, where science, art, and personal experience intertwine, and each mineral acquires a dual status: as a physical object and as an image, as a scientific specimen and as an aesthetic phenomenon. The exhibition layout further emphasizes this idea by organizing the photographs into “constellations,” establishing a symbolic link between underground structures and cosmic spaces.
