Charity Screening: Gurren Lagann

In the distant future, humanity has been driven underground: people are born, live and die in cramped subterranean villages, never knowing the sky. Any attempt to reach the surface is forbidden and punished. But the young digger Simon finds a strange artifact in the depths of the earth — and together with his desperate friend Kamina he breaks through the ceiling of their village, revealing a world where Beastmen war machines roam the surface and power is maintained by fear and a ban on dreaming.

What is stronger: an order built on suppression, or the will of those who refuse to know their place? Where is the line between faith in yourself and recklessness? What happens to a revolution when it wins and becomes the power itself? And what is the price of progress if it drives humanity toward self-destruction?

The series has 27 episodes; therefore 4 meetings are planned with the following format:

Screening of 6–7 episodes (with an intermission in the middle)

Analysis and discussion during the break and after the screening.

Format of screening: Japanese audio + Russian subtitles

Donations collected will be directed to support anti-war and human rights organizations

Recipients will be chosen by the screening participants
