Boy Harsher — dark and inevitable — returns to Belgrade this June! Boy Harsher is an electronic duo from the USA, consisting of vocalist and lyricist Jae Matthews and producer Augustus Muller. Their music combines the cold precision of minimal synth with the hypnotic sensuality of darkwave, creating a sonic landscape that feels like a nightmare, yet also an invitation to dance. Formed in 2013 in Savannah, Georgia, Matthews and Muller began their collaboration as filmmakers — Jae wrote screenplays and Augustus composed music — and that cinematic approach continues to define their distinctive sound: cinematic, dark, and introspective. Their debut EP, Lesser Man (2014), released on cassette, quickly gained a cult status in underground circles. Albums like Yr Body is Nothing (2016), Careful (2019), and The Runner (Original Soundtrack) (2022) have brought them international acclaim, thousands of records sold, and sold-out tours across Europe and the USA. Songs like 'Pain,' 'Fate,' and 'Autonomy' have become staples in darkwave clubs. Live performances by Boy Harsher are a unique experience: minimalist lighting design, pulsating rhythms, and Jae's magnetic stage presence that transitions from cold narration to emotional eruption. Their music speaks of the body, desire, anxiety, escapism — and the truth we find in darkness. The The Runner project from 2022 merged film and album into a unique universe — a horror story about a woman on the run, about desire, danger, and transformation. With this project, Boy Harsher once again proved that they are not just musicians, but true multimedia artists whose vision transcends genres. Today, Boy Harsher is at the peak of their artistic expression, inspiring a new generation of artists across the darkwave, techno, and post-punk scenes.
