Description
The museum is pleased to announce the guest exhibition "Match" by author Alexander Stanković, a teacher, historian, and theoretician of classical, sports, and stage fencing, which will be open to all lovers and enthusiasts of this most elegant martial art on Tuesday, June 18th at 8:00 PM. The exhibition includes a rich collection of over 50 swords through the centuries, from antiquity through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, to the modern era. The exhibited items, mostly replicas, are enriched with authentic pieces of yataghans and sabers from the Weapons and Warrior Equipment collection of the Museum, representing the sword culture of Serbia and the Balkans.
During the exhibition, there will be guided tours, workshops, and interactive lectures on the theory of the sword and the history of fencing in Serbia and Belgrade from the Middle Ages to the mid-20th century. We particularly announce a small prize competition 'Sword in the Stone' for our youngest visitors.
With a welcoming speech by the director of the Ethnographic Museum, Marko Krstić, the exhibition will be opened by the author Alexander Stanković and the curator of the Weapons and Warrior Equipment collection of the Ethnographic Museum, Ivan Maksimović.
The exhibition will be open to visitors until October. The ticket price is 400 dinars.
