Common Grounds: An Assembly for a Non-Extractivist Future
📍 KC Grad
🗓 July 3–4, 2026
The Balkan Peninsula is rapidly becoming one of Europe’s key frontiers for lithium, boron, and other critical mineral extraction. Across Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, new mining projects are expanding, bringing profound environmental, social, and political consequences that threaten landscapes, local communities, and ways of life shaped over generations.
In response, a powerful wave of civic resistance has emerged, bringing people together across political, cultural, and ethnic divides. Common Grounds gathers activists, researchers, policymakers, and cultural workers to exchange experiences and discuss the impacts of extractivism, environmental justice, and collective strategies for building a more sustainable and equitable future.
The program is open to everyone, and simultaneous English interpretation will be provided.
