Description
This time we're getting to know Hungarian wines — and we'll start with one of the country's most famous red regions — Villány.
Villány is the warmest wine region in Hungary, often called Hungary's answer to Bordeaux.
At the tasting we'll be sampling wines from one of Hungary's best-known wineries — Gere Winery.
We'll talk about:
- why Villány is considered one of the main red wine regions in Central Europe
- how Hungarian Cabernet Franc differs from the French version
- what single-vineyard wines are
- how large Bordeaux-style blend wines are made
- why some wines can age for 10–15 years
And, of course, we'll be tasting a lot 🍷
This time we'll taste:
- a white wine from the region
- the indigenous Kékfrankos
- the rare Hungarian variety Fekete Járdovány
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Villányi Franc Ördögárok
- the winery's flagship — Kopar Cuvée
There will be 6 wines in total.
This tasting is for those who want a deeper introduction to Hungarian wine and to understand why Villány is talked about across the wine world today.
