Modern researchers identify six or seven basic emotions that are universal among all mammals.
For humans, the spectrum is significantly broader and includes many cross-cultural and individual differences.
It turns out that the more complex the brain, the richer the emotional life.
But why is that?
- Why do we need emotions, why does natural selection favor their very existence and drive the expansion of their diversity?
- Do they contribute to our success in the modern world, and if so, in what obvious and not-so-obvious ways?
- Should a rational person develop their emotional intelligence, and if so, how and why?
We’ll answer all these questions at Asya Kazantseva’s new lecture.
Asya Kazantseva is a well-known science journalist, winner of the "Enlightener" award, and a traveling lecturer. She graduated from the Biology Faculty of Saint Petersburg State University, the “Cognitive Sciences and Technologies” Master’s program at HSE, and the Molecular Neurobiology Master’s program at the University of Bristol.
The lecture will be held in Russian.
