Known for their melancholic melodies and nostalgic lyrics, the Siberian post-punk band Ploho is coming to Belgrade in March and will perform at Zappa Baza with their new album «Почва» (“Soil”).

Founded in 2013 in Novosibirsk and now based in Belgrade, the trio has become one of the leading representatives of the "new wave of Russian music," blending post-punk and new wave with a cold and lo-fi sound.

Ploho draws inspiration from the aesthetics and sound of the late 1980s and early 1990s, capturing the emotional essence of the twilight of the Soviet Union. Their music reflects stories of life in industrial Siberia, exploring themes of loneliness, nostalgia, and resilience, conveyed in a raw and deeply human way.

Their latest album «Почва» marks a significant milestone in the band's history. Created amid major personal and global upheavals, the album not only reflects the ghosts of the past but also the harsh realities of the present. With its minimalist, raw, and austere sound, the album evokes a sense of anxiety and melancholy, creating an introspective atmosphere infused with anti-capitalist and existential tones. Despite its gravity, the album also brings moments of melancholic lightness, with 80s-inspired synthesizer melodies, creating an unforgettable dance experience.

Ploho boasts a rich discography with four studio albums, multiple EP releases, and collaborations with artists such as Molchat Doma. The band has toured extensively across Europe, captivating audiences with their atmospheric live performances. Their music is often compared to Joy Division, reflecting the aesthetics of Soviet architecture while evoking emotions that transcend time and space.

The Belgrade concert will feature songs from «Почва» alongside fan-favorite hits from the band’s extensive discography.

Support: Šmeterling — an experimental post-punk duo from Belgrade. The band blends alternative rock, gothic, and electronic elements, creating a unique atmosphere that fuses melancholy with dance energy.
