The idea of the circle is incomparably purer than the actual circle. A simple fact: even the most carefully devised intention, every plan, begins to fall apart when it meets reality. What appears precise in concept becomes unstable through matter, time and touch. The eidos disintegrates.

I don't draw — I create situations and worlds in which ideas try to become physical, and then matter and chance intervene. They always intervene. Sometimes the initial impulse endures longer, sometimes less.

In this series I note: nothing remains completely untouched once it enters reality. That is not a failure, but the natural state of things. I do not invent this rift. It is already there.

Vadim is a visual artist born in 1987 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Emerging from the underground graffiti culture in the early 2000s, and later shaped by the discipline of design, his practice has evolved into a structured visual language based on a fusion of balance, inner order and material contingencies. His compositions appear stable and self-contained, but exist in constant friction with the instability of the real world.
