Description
EXHIBITION "AND NOW, GOODBYE"
"And now – goodbye." Marija Sekula
Concept of the Creative Process
I create in a language that pulses with energy and strives for a calm, essential simplicity. In my painting, I strip away the excess and seek what is most important—pure form, open color, clear line. Flat planes and color for me are not just an aesthetic choice, but a way to capture the truth I feel. Color speaks before words, and the line is the rhythm of my inner stride.
I build my work on the need to reduce everything to what it is. To separate the essential from the non-essential. To give emotion a form that doesn't explain, but vibrates. Through abstraction, I try to articulate thoughts and feelings that are not easily expressed in words—things that are too subtle, too intense, or too complex to be said directly.
I live in a time that changes quickly and tumultuously, in a society that constantly separates, unites, and reshapes. Everything I witness, everything that affects me, quietly enters my paintings. I paint as a witness, as someone who wants to leave a trace of what is happening around me and within me. Art becomes my record: a document of the times, a document of my inner response to them.
My goal is to create works that are simple in form, but profound in meaning. To make the abstract clear, and the clear multi-layered. To preserve emotion, thought, and experience through a minimum of drawing and flat color. Every painting I create is part of my attempt to understand the world and myself in it—to capture a moment, a change, the pulse of society, and translate it into a lasting visual language.
I leave a trace of the time I live in on the canvas. It is my way of speaking, of bearing witness, and of leaving a record.
We invite you to come, to recognize yourself, to laugh, and to remember – what it was like to laugh together.
And now, goodbye.
But not oblivion.
