Stone FOR A Pillow Milica Novkovic
Stone FOR A Pillow situates in a rural environment, where it seeks and raises questions of significant human and dramatic importance. Its heroes live in a world that has lost God and is losing the value of traditional morality and way of life while not finding new foundations, new beliefs, and new motives for living with purpose. Beneath that surface lies the human plan of the heroes of this drama, which proves to be the cause of changes on a general level, whose meaning is in the search for identity and values of human life. The time of gathering and forming family cooperatives is over. The hero wants to divide the land and sell it, to take his own, to what he is entitled by his work and effort, his care for the land, and nurturing of that land. However, a fateful rupture has already occurred among his ancestors, a fateful misunderstanding between their aspirations, desires, passions, instincts, and their realization. Traditional morality is upheld, but the source from which it drew its power has disappeared. The individual aspirations and interests of the family are not aligned because there is no sign of equality between what the nature of the hero demands in the drama and what is the moral norm and goal of the community... The high price they will pay for this rupture is the theme of Stone FOR A Pillow, a drama of shifting perspectives on the world, a drama of questions: “how” and “why” to live, work, create.
