Cinema and Death. Why the Main Character Doesn't Die
Description
🎬 CINEMA AND DEATH. WHY THE MAIN CHARACTER DOESN'T DIE
"No, I know for sure he won't die." At least once everyone has caught themselves thinking this during the final battle, chase, or climactic scene. We're so used to certain rules of cinema that we predict the fate of the main character in advance. But why are modern films set up this way? And has it always been like this?
We'll cover:
- 📍 why the hero's death is one of the most powerful dramatic devices;
- 📍 how mythology and religion have influenced the modern structure of cinema;
- 📍 what the "hero's journey" is and why it appears in almost every blockbuster today;
- 📍 how a film's meaning changes if the main character actually dies;
- 📍 why a character's fate affects not only our emotions but also box office, ratings, and a film's success on streaming platforms.
