Kopaonik Lite: cool breezes, forests and mountain expanses

Description

The first trip filled up so quickly that we decided to run a second one at the end of August. A cozy hotel at 1,300 m and forest trails are waiting for guests again!

We escape the city heat to a place that's 8–10°C cooler during the day, where the forests are quiet and green. We depart from Belgrade on Friday evening and check into the hotel by night. In the morning we take the cable car to the highest point of the region, Pančić's Peak (almost 2,000 m). From the top, if visibility is good, you can see Kosovo and Metohija, the Prokletije (Accursed Mountains), the Stara Planina (Balkan Mountains) and even Rtanj.

Program

Day 1

• Departure from Belgrade on Friday evening; check-in at the hotel by night.
• Morning ascent by cable car to the highest point of the region, Pančić's Peak (almost 2,000 m). In good visibility — views of Kosovo and Metohija, the Prokletije, the Stara Planina and Rtanj.
• After lunch — a walk to a three-meter cold geyser, observing how the landscape changes with altitude, and a stroll through a beech forest.
• Evening get-togethers with wine, beer or tea.

Day 2

• Walks to viewpoints and through the forest.
• Visiting the market for jam and rakija.
• Opportunity to ride the toboggan/alpine coaster.
• On the way home — lunch: mountain trout or other local specialties to choose from.

Level

Easy — no rushing or exhausting hikes. Perfect to recharge and breathe in the mountain air.
