Miroslav Krleža in "Leda", the third part of his "Glembajevska trilogy", writes about the collapse of a social class, a world without descendants, a society that will self-destruct in self-love and egoism, like many ancient peoples disappearing in history. On the carnival night, when identities are hidden and when everything is allowed, the decadent and empty lives of the heroes come to light, struggling in their own absurdity like "butterflies impaled on needles", as Krleža succinctly described them with Krleža's lucidity. While a chain of suicides is happening in the luxury hotel where they are staying, this false elite engages in trivialities and gossip, on the carousel of base passions and deceptions.
