Lecture by Vera Katyakova "Mathematics of Elections"

Elections, elections, elections - and not between two candies, but between candidates for the presidency. But how are these elections conducted? How do voters evaluate candidates, and what rule is used to tally the votes?

The lecturer will talk about the paradoxes of elections that are inevitable. What will happen if we solve the paradoxes? There will be a dictatorship, mathematics tells us.

Is democracy impossible from the perspective of exact science? What? Yes! Come and find out what the paradoxes of elections are, the ways to solve them, and the transition of elections to dictatorship.

This is the first part of the lecture on the mathematics of elections. The second part of the lecture will be dedicated to the mathematics of elections in America.

The lecture will be conducted by an experienced mathematics teacher, compiler of Olympiads, former coach of the Novosibirsk mathematics team, Vera Katyakova.
