Duration: 2 hours
Language: Russian
“How is it customary among Serbs?”
It’s not about the language, but about cultural differences!
How to avoid misunderstandings in Serbia:
a masterclass with real-life examples.
Hello! My name is Maria Pantelic and I have been living in Serbia since 2009.
My main activity is helping Russian speakers who have moved to Serbia to master the Serbian language. I am the founder of the project “Living Serbian” — now it is an online Serbian language school and blog.
I have a large Serbian family. I don’t just live in Serbia and communicate with Serbs, I live the life that Serbs live, together with Serbs.
For 16 years, I have been observing Serbs in their natural environment — in everyday life, how they communicate with each other; what is customary, what is cultural, what is implied, and what is not.
In the masterclass, I will analyze, using specific situations, how the Serbian “implied” differs from ours.
What and how is customary among Serbs in communication:
- with strangers
- with neighbors
- in the store
- at “kafi”
- in a restaurant
- when you are a guest at Serbs’ home
- when Serbs are guests at your home
- with children and about children
Venue
Dorćol Platz
Dobračina 59b, Beograd
