MASTERCLASS ON CREATING AND USING STENCILS WITH Слава Ptrk

You don't need to know how to draw — you can still create vivid visual works. This masterclass is suitable both for those who have long been interested in street art and for those who want to try working with stencils for the first time.

A stencil is one of the most versatile artistic tools. It is used by municipal services and advertisers, designers and confectioners, artists and activists. With stencils you can customize clothing, create posters, decorate spaces, and transfer images onto practically any surface.

But stencils occupy a particularly important place in street art.

In a two-hour practical session with the artist Слава Ptrk we will get acquainted with the world of stencil art and go through the whole process — from idea to finished print. We will look at the different types of stencils, how to properly prepare templates for stencils, what materials stencils are made from and how to cut them, and, most importantly, practice applying stencils in an urban environment. This is a powerful tool that can help you realize many bold and cool ideas that would be impossible to achieve by other means.

🗣Слава Ptrk — a street and visual artist from Yekaterinburg, creator of the guerrilla street-art festival «Карт-бланш», curator, and author of lectures and masterclasses on street art. He trained as a journalist and has been working in urban space since 2004.
