Ninthshaft, The Father of Serpents & Burnaza

Description

Overview of doom/post-metal bands: Ninthshaft, The Father of Serpents, Burnaza

Ninthshaft

Ninthshaft is a Russian post-metal band that balances heaviness and atmosphere, aggression and lyricism.
Among fans and critics, several key Ninthshaft releases stand out that best show the band's evolution and strengths:

  • The Thing (2020) — Often considered their first true studio album that drew attention to the band. Reviewers noted that Ninthshaft here fully revealed their progressive approach: the songs don't follow standard structures but bring many unexpected mood shifts and contrasts.
  • Bermuda (2022) — Many view this release as a step toward even greater depth and cohesion. Critics and audiences emphasize that the album creates a dense, dark atmosphere and paints an end-of-the-world scenario — it intertwines deep melancholy, desperate rage, and a sense of hopelessness. Important note: Bermuda is best experienced as a whole rather than as a collection of separate songs. A great example is the three-part composition Deluge.
  • Keeper of Secrets (2019) — Although not a long album but an EP, it occupies an important place in the band's discography. Here Ninthshaft begins to shape their recognizable sound and songwriting approach. For anyone who wants to trace the roots of their sound, this release is essential listening.

Burnaza

Burnaza is a doom metal band from Belgrade, Serbia, founded in 2024.
The band's first release, Fear in a Dream, was released in 2025. In 2026 Burnaza released a second single, Switch On, for which an official music video was shot.
The band's sound is based on slow, melodic and epic riffs, female vocals, and dark, atmospheric compositions. The lyrics explore the mysteries of the cosmos, human feelings and experiences, as well as the longing for personal freedom — in life and in death. Combining the weight of doom metal with melodic and emotional elements, Burnaza creates music that is at once monumental and intimate.
