From Crisis to Community: Guided Walk through Savski Blokovi

What happens when institutions do not support citizens in housing-related challenges and urban living? How do they react and resist pressures related to space?

Aleksandar and Branislav, local activists who live in Savski blokovi and have been engaged in the fight against violent urbanization of this part of the city for years, will guide us through the spaces and places around which citizens have organized. They will talk to us about how they successfully defended the Savski nasip, about the ongoing struggles against illegal and speculative construction in the neighborhood, but also about their experience of community and proactive transformation.

The walk will also be joined by activists from other parts of the city to encourage the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Božena and Olga from the Ministry of Space will provide insight into the broader planning framework.

The guided tours through Savski blokovi and the Stjepan Filipović settlement are designed as a supporting program of the exhibition 'From Crisis to Community. Collaborative Tactics of Dwelling', which is taking place at BINA Kabina from May 8 to 17.
