Trip to Obedska Bara
Description
Plan for the day: nature and wine near Belgrade
Did you know that just 40 km from Belgrade there is a wetland of global importance?
I'm talking about the Obedska Bara nature reserve — Obedska Bara on Instagram — one of the most valuable wetlands in Europe. It has many international conservation designations, and the local fauna is impressive: more than 220 bird species, around 50 mammal species, 16 fish species, over 1,200 insect species and many other animals.
I was there over the weekend and was completely thrilled. I saw deer, wild boar, countless frogs and a wide variety of birds. The only thing I couldn't do was take a guided catamaran tour to the reserve's most secluded spots. For that, a group of 15 people is needed.
That's when I had an idea.
Yes, it's not exactly wine-focused. But what if we combine nature and wine? No, I'm not suggesting drinking in the reserve — I'm proposing a day plan.
So, Sunday, August 2 (to get it done before the promised August heat)
I suggest the following itinerary:
- 🌿 walk in Obedska Bara
- 🛶 catamaran with a guide
- 🐟 lunch at a čarda on the Sava in the village of Bolevci
- 🍷 return to Belgrade and a tasting of Serbian wines at a bar
The route and timing are already planned.
Costs
- entrance to the reserve — 363.6 RSD (yes, exactly that much 😄)
- catamaran — 350 RSD per person
- lunch — about 1,600 RSD per person
- wine tasting — paid separately; we'll decide based on how many people want to join
All you need is the desire to go. If you don't have a car — no problem: we'll help connect you with people who have spare seats.
I'll organize everything: I'll create a chat, book the catamaran with a guide, reserve a table at the čarda and help with logistics.
