Lecture description:
On Sunday, December 1, we will talk about bilingual societies and language policy. We will consider bilingual social units of all sizes, from family to state, and discuss how different types of language policy affect the development, status, and interaction of languages in those places on the planet where more than one language is spoken. You can expect an exciting linguistic journey with many historical-anthropological data across half the globe, from Estonia to Brazil.
The meeting will be conducted by Stanislav Gurevich, linguist, language teacher with over thirty years of experience, head of multidisciplinary and linguistic summer schools in Estonia and Serbia, co-chair of the organizing committee and jury member of the International Olympiad in Linguistics for schoolchildren.
