Background

Originally conceived as a black metal project in the late 1990s, Thy Catafalque has since evolved into one of the most distinctive voices in modern experimental music. Drawing heavily on Kátai’s cultural roots, the project incorporates Hungarian folk melodies and language alongside progressive arrangements and lush synth work.

Thy Catafalque’s critically acclaimed albums — including Rengeteg, Meta, Naiv, and Vadak — have earned praise for their originality, musical scope, and emotional depth.
