Creativity as Self-Care: Three Practices for Non-Professionals
Description
CREATIVITY AS SELF-CARE: THREE PRACTICES FOR NON-PROFESSIONALS
"I can’t draw" — it seems to be one of the most popular reasons to stay away from creativity. But what if creativity doesn’t require the ability to draw at all?"
Art doesn’t have to be only about the result, a pretty picture, or a professional skill. Sometimes it’s a way to stop, switch gears, notice something important, and simply be in the process — without judging yourself or demanding anything of yourself.
In the creative lab we’ll try three different artistic practices. They’re all simple, quick, and require no preparation or artistic experience, but they can lead to unexpected results and help you see yourself a little differently.
Between practices we’ll talk about how creativity is connected to the psyche, how spontaneous personal creativity differs from art therapy as a method, and why all of this helps even when we don’t consider ourselves artists.
Each practice will focus on something different — so in one day you can switch gears, try different ways of self-expression, and get to know yourself better.
No skills are required and you don’t need to bring anything — all materials will be provided.
🗣 The session is led by Anna Cherepanova — artist, art therapist and researcher.
