Василий К., known for works such as The State, Dogs and Ugly and Evil, was forced to urgently leave Russia and is now planning his first solo concerts in Serbia; on 22 August he will perform at KIK PUB.

Василий К. is a poet and rock musician originally from Murmansk. He lived for about ten years in Sweden and played with the local indie band Kürten, returning to Russia in search of opportunities to perform his songs in his native language. In 2002 he released an album of translations and interpretations of Leonard Cohen's songs, which quickly won the hearts of post-Soviet underground fans. From 2004 to 2017 he toured extensively and released albums with the Moscow-formed band Василий К. & Интеллигенты, then continued to explore sonic and psychological spaces solo and in other lineups. Василий К. is a shaman and experimenter, a musician of inexhaustible creative energy that captures even the most demanding listener anew at every concert. He is one of the few singer-songwriters who successfully combines a careful, profound approach to the song form with bold experiments in the genres of free improv, noise and ambient.

Concert program

1. First set: songs from recent releases that correspond to his current inner moment and are largely shaped by an anti-war stance and anti-totalitarian reflection.
2. Second set: entirely by audience requests. Write the titles of the songs you want on something and bring them to the stage.
