If you asked at random which Serbian hit holds the YouTube views record, most people would name one of the region's biggest pop stars — and be wrong. At the very top for more than ten years sits a duet you wouldn't expect on this list — «Moje zlato» by Милица Тодорович and MC Yankoo.
The music video was released in 2014, but a decade later it shows no signs of slowing down: the official video already has about 189 million views and is confidently approaching the 200 million mark. That's enough to keep the song among the most-watched tracks by Serbian performers of all time.
The song that made history
The key point here is not just the number, but what it represents. «Moje zlato» — the first music video from Serbia to ever cross the 100 million views threshold on YouTube. In effect, it was a pioneer: the duet showed that music from the Balkans can gather a global-scale audience on digital platforms and opened the door for other regional artists who later repeated that success.
Two artists met at a rising moment: Милица's recognizable vocals and MC Yankoo's urban, energetic sound created a combination that resonated across several generations of listeners. The infectious chorus and bouncy rhythm quickly won over audiences across the region — and as the view counter shows, they haven't let go.
From the Olympic pool to family gatherings
The song also has a sporting chapter in its biography. At the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, «Moje zlato» became something of an unofficial anthem for the Serbian national water polo team: the track was often played within the team and accompanied their performances on the main sporting stage.
There was also a bit of controversy. At one point Милица and MC Yankoo were accused of inflating the view count — allegations the singer publicly denied more than once. Today, after years of steady organic growth, that dispute looks more like part of the folklore surrounding the hit.
And the overall champion — it turns out to be children
If you step outside pop music and consider all genres, the main YouTube record holder for Serbian content is not an adult hit but a children's song: «Mama voli bebu» with an impressive 358 million views. So in the race for public attention, the littlest ones ultimately beat everyone.
As for Милица Тодорович herself, she is back in the spotlight for a more personal reason: in February this year she made her first public appearance since giving birth to her son Bogdan. Meanwhile, her biggest hit continues to quietly pick up views — and will almost certainly hit the round 200 million figure sooner than we get used to it.
