"Light is both an obvious and mysterious phenomenon. It has no weight, and cannot be touched or contained, yet it is crucial to how we perceive our surroundings. Despite its immaterial nature, light plays a central role in our existence, it determines what we see and how we experience the world around us." (Jonas Ellerström)

The exhibition "Night and Day" explores the fluid boundaries between the light of day and the darkness of night. By reflecting on the light that disappears during the night whether we sleep, dream, or stay awake, it examines how we perceive the passage of time.
In the city's hectic atmosphere, we often lose touch with the depth of night, as the light from streets, cars, and human activity continuously illuminates the surroundings. In nature, night is different. It is deep, silent, yet filled with other sounds, from animals we cannot see, or the glow of moonlight that suddenly wakes us.

"Night and Day" seeks to explore contrasts: light and dark, activity and stillness, and what happens in the transition between the two. The thin cone of shadow stretches into the universe, marking a subtle boundary between day and night. Through an opening in the window, we allow the real night and day to enter the exhibition space. At the center of the room, a large form slowly pulses between absorption and reflection. A captured reflection of the sun slowly moves across the room, symbolizing the movement of light.

Light, in both its presence and absence, is part of the expression, and the viewer is invited to pay attention to the ongoing cycle of light and darkness, and the different meanings these phenomena hold for us.

"south east / south west" Torbjörn Johansson & Daniela Hedman are an artist duo who, in addition to their individual artistic practices, also collaborate under the name "south east / south west". Since its inception in 2016, they have engaged in exploratory and experimental work where nature, its forces, and human impact take center stage. The project explores the uncontrollable as a co-creator in an artistic process while challenging established methods and approaches. Through site-specific installations outdoors or transformed into indoor exhibitions, the project develops and explores new spatial experiences. Since its inception, 'south east / south west' has participated in several performance art festivals, and site-specific exhibitions both indoors and outdoors received artist residencies, and is constantly open to different spaces and contexts where the project can further develop.

The exhibition will be open until November 4th, every day from 4 PM to 9 PM.
