Description

The museum is pleased to announce the guest exhibition Sword by the author Alexander Stankovic, a teacher, historian, and theoretician of classical, sports, and stage fencing. The exhibition, showcasing over 50 swords throughout the ages from antiquity through the Middle Ages and Renaissance to the modern era, will be open to all enthusiasts and devotees of this most elegant martial art on Tuesday, June 18th at 8:00 PM.

The exhibition includes a rich collection of more than 50 swords spanning centuries, from antiquity through the Middle Ages and Renaissance to the modern era. The exhibited items, mostly replicas, are enriched with authentic pieces of yataghans and sabers from the Weapons and Warrior Equipment Collection of the Museum, representing the sword culture of Serbia and the Balkans.

During the exhibition, guided tours, workshops, and interactive lectures on the theory of swords and the history of fencing in Serbia and Belgrade from the Middle Ages to the mid-20th century will be organized. We especially announce a small prize competition Sword in Stone for our youngest visitors.

With a welcome speech from the director of the Ethnographic Museum, Marko Krstic, the exhibition will be opened by the author Alexander Stankovic and the curator of the Weapons and Warrior Equipment Collection of the Ethnographic Museum, Ivan Maximovic.

The exhibition will be open to visitors until October. The entrance fee is 400 dinars.
