Sword Through the Centuries at the Ethnographic Museum
Description
The museum is pleased to announce the guest exhibition 'Sword' by author Aleksandar Stanković, teacher, historian and theoretician of classical, sports and theatrical fencing, which will be open to all lovers and enthusiasts of this most elegant martial art, on Tuesday, June 18 at 8:00 PM.
The exhibition includes a rich collection of over 50 swords through the centuries, from antiquity through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, to the modern era, and the exhibited items, mostly replicas, are enriched with authentic pieces of yataghans and sabers from the collection of Weapons and Warrior Equipment of the Museum representing the culture of the sword of Serbia and the Balkans.
During the exhibition, there will be organized expert tours, workshops, and interactive lectures on the theory of the sword and the history of fencing in Serbia and Belgrade from the Middle Ages to the mid-20th century, and we especially announce a small prize competition 'Sword in Stone' for our youngest visitors.
Along with the welcoming speech by the director of the Ethnographic Museum Marko Krstić, the exhibition will be opened by the author Aleksandar Stanković and the curator of the collection of Weapons and Warrior Equipment of the Ethnographic Museum Ivan Maksimović.
The exhibition will be open to visitors until October. The ticket price is 400 Serbian Dinars.
