Day of the Dead Festival
Description
The Embassy of Mexico Serbia is pleased to announce that on November 1st, 2024, the third edition of the Day of the Dead Festival in Belgrade will take place at Knez Mihailova Street, outside of the Instituto Cervantes of Belgrade. The festival will include multiple cultural activities for the public, including music, videos, and face painting. During the event, H.E. Ambassador Carlos Félix Corona will present the Traditional Mexican Ofrenda, which this year will be dedicated to the Mexican singer Juan Gabriel and to the Serbian singer Bora Đorđević. The program will start with some music, videos, and face painting (free of charge) for the public. Later on, the Festival will count on the participation of the International Belgrade Singers Choir (IBS Choir) and the Mexican group Trio Mictlán, who will be performing traditional Mexican music appropriate for this important festivity. Likewise, the public will be invited to walk together with the Mexican community at Knez Mihailova, showing their best style to impersonate the “Catrina” and “Catrin”, iconic figures of this important Mexican tradition. The Embassy will reward the best Catrinas and Catrines of this Festival. Lastly, as part of the festivity, the public will taste one of the most relevant gastronomic foods of this festivity, the traditional Pan de Muerto.
