Blind guardian
Description
After 10 long years
Blind Guardian, as part of the European tour 'The God Machine,' is finally returning to Belgrade!
About the Event
The doyens of power metal, or rather, the Bards, as their fans call them, will once again show why they are still one of the most beloved metal bands in the world after 40 years, whose popularity extends far beyond genre boundaries. This exceptional celebration will take place on August 24 (Saturday) at Hangar Luke Belgrade, so mark this date in your calendars now.
Band History
Blind Guardian was founded at the end of 1984 under the name Lucifer's Heritage in Krefeld, and their initial sound was recognizable for its speed metal elements. The band's foundation consisted of:
- Vocalist and bassist Hansi Kürsch
- Lead guitarist André Olbrich
- Rhythm guitarist Marcus Dörk
- Drummer Thomas Stauch
Sound Evolution
Inspired by the album 'Awaken The Guardian' by Fates Warning, the members decided to change their name to Blind Guardian, and soon after, rhythm guitarist Marcus Siepen, who is still a member today, joined them.
Thematic Elements
Their songs are characterized by epic lyrics inspired by literature, mythology, and fantasy, especially works by:
- Michael Moorcock
- Stephen King
- George R.R. Martin
- J.R.R. Tolkien
The band is considered a pioneer of power metal and one of the first to introduce complex orchestral arrangements and choral vocals into this genre.
