Synth-pop sensation Desire makes their debut at Zappa Bazi!

The Canadian synth-pop phenomenon Desire is arriving in Serbia for the first time! The band, long regarded as one of the most important names in the modern synthwave and dream pop scenes, will bring to Belgrade an evening filled with neon, dancing and an atmosphere straight out of iconic 1980s films. After a series of acclaimed performances across Europe, Desire will, on Wednesday, December 9, 2026, perform for the first time in front of a local audience at Zappa Bazi. On the tour they will be joined by twin sisters MOTHERMARY, while Johnny Jewel will also appear with a solo set. Physical tickets will soon be available at Katakombe bar and Zappa bar.

Desire formed in 2009 in Montreal, and are led by vocalist Megan Louise and producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Johnny Jewel. Over the years they have built a distinctive sound that blends synth-pop, Italo disco, dream pop and cinematic atmosphere, creating music that sounds at once nostalgic and entirely contemporary. They reached a wider audience with the song Under Your Spell, which appeared in the cult film Drive and became something of an anthem for the modern synthwave generation. That very combination of melancholy, romance and danceable rhythm has marked their entire career. Desire make music for night drives, city lights and dance floors, and their songs regularly find their way into films, TV series and fashion campaigns.

They have released the albums Desire and Escape, and each new performance reinforces their reputation as one of the most exciting live acts on the contemporary electronic scene. Their concerts are known for hypnotic atmosphere, elegant visuals and a dance energy that keeps the audience moving from the first to the last minute, and Belgrade's audience will finally have the chance to experience this for themselves at Zappa Bazi.
