_"WHY AM I WRITING THIS?"_Right after the end of the First World War, horrified by the scenes from the battlefields in Galicia, young Miloš writes a "Diary About Čarnojević", one of the most beautiful novels of the 20th century.Crnjanski deeply loves his country at a time when, presumably, everyone loved it. Before critics attacked him from all sides, he struggled with publishers, they rejected him, asked him to shorten the novel to 5 sections, asked him to remove "pornographic motives". He had no choice, he shortened it, and the excess he burned in a room of the Belgrade hotel Paris. The critics have long died, and those gentle and warm sentences full of sunshine remain modern as if they were just written. And the whisper of those words that actors say or don't say, spread across the stage, float, here, in the tuberculous Europe that has been persistently dying for three hundred years nurturing and watering its own diseases of greed, chicken blindness.Filip Gajić
